Rumor is that a beach update is due out next week! The beach will be on the left side of the village. I believe that it will be available for free to everyone. I'm not sure what the purpose is, as the pictures I've seen don't have any houses on the beach. Looks to be for aesthetics?
Update today!! You are able to move your houses onto the beach, so it is functional for more than just beach items. There are a few new items available, as well as a new critter...but it's only purchasable with smurf berries

- Free beach expansion (More Land!) - Level 36 added - Clumsy Smurf added - Quests for level 20-35 - New summer items (Beach chair, beach blanket, sandcastle, conch, seashells, starfish) - New hats in Tailor Smurf's hut (Snorkel, sunglasses) - New critter (Crab)
And there you go! I've yet to see Clumsy Smurf, but I'm still waiting for 3 smurfs to come back...so maybe he'll show up once this quest is done.
Did you know that you can plant on the beach. I have spread out my crops. Now I can move farmer smurf around to get bonus xp. I love planting the magic blueberries.
